A Day at Ala Moana Beach

Surprisingly yesterday was a very mellow day at Ala Moana Beach Park. Usually this place is jam packed with cars and people. I suspected this past Sunday would be no different. When we arrived around 11:00am there was actually a lot of parking. This was probably due to the fact that earlier the Honolulu Marathon started from this very park. At 5:00am they had the whole park closed off to cars and 25,000 people started their 26 mile run from here. They opened up the park to cars around 8:00am but I think most people decided to stay away expecting large crowds.

It was a perfect day for a picnic. As you can see the ocean was pretty mellow too. There were a few surfers out catching what little waves there were on the south shore. It was a good day to go snorkelling or just frolicking in the water. Like we always say here, lucky you live Hawaii!
