Another One Bytes the Dust

Byteware, a locally owned and operated computer store located in the Kamehameha Shopping Center, is closing its doors this Saturday, October 16, 2004.

For the hardware geeks, you’ll remember when Byteware was located across Honolulu Community College and sold RAM and computer innards for rock-bottom prices. Byteware has come a long way since then and it saddens me to see them closing up shop. Another local merchant succumbs to the big-box competition of the likes of Comp USA. Or have they?

There are rumors milling about on forums that they will re-open under another name, focusing their business on consumer electronics and steering away from computers.

In the meantime, take advantage of their closing sale. I hear there are some pretty good deals to be had.
